A cable pull encoder is essentially a linear measuring device that consists of a spring-wound cable reel with a rotary encoder mounted on the hub of the reel.
The stainless steel wire is placed between the top and bottom frame of the scissor lift so when raising the table the cable is drawn out causing the encoder to rotate and transmit the amount of rotation as an analogue linear current and voltage output and connected to a control box. It is also possible to connect the cable pull encoder to a PLC system.
The cable pull is paired with an absolute rotary encoder which provides a position measurement as soon as it’s powered up.
The cable encoder ensures an accurate height signal to the control system (Logo control box or PLC). This allows for programming numerous determined positions, where you want the lift table to stop. The cable pull encoder allows the lift table to stop at 20mm intervals.
Due to the sensitivity of the wire, we recommend to shield the wire from wind and dust. This can be done by bellows or roller blinds if needed.
